Dr. Magaji Waziri
Head, Private School
Dr. Magaji Waziri provides leadership for the Private Schools function at the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), supporting the Council's mandate to sensitise, mobilise, and organise private schools to align with professional registration, licensing, and compliance requirements.
Strategic Leadership Overview
As Head, Private School, Dr. Waziri coordinates stakeholder engagement and operational follow-up for private school teacher registration and standards across Nigeria. The function plays a vital role in extending TRCN's mandate to ensure quality teaching and professional recognition within the non-state education sector.
The Department of Private Schools is responsible for sensitizing, mobilizing and organizing of private (non-state schools) in Nigeria to align with TRCN Mandates for real time gathering, collation and tracking of data.
- To register all private school teachers in Nigeria
- To conduct background checks on teachers during registration and ensure accurate documentation of prospective teachers qualifying examination (PQE) data
- To conduct an effective and standardized teacher based professional quality educational standard
- To promptly produce quality and error free certificates and licenses
- Ensure certificates are properly issued to teachers
- Ensure swift follow-up to key policy decisions as it affects both TRCN and Private Schools
- To work with Department of Private Schools in Federal/State ministry of Education and other private schools stakeholders
- Maintain relationship with the stakeholders in the sector for updates and policy guidelines on teacher education practice and managements
- Ensure total compliance to TRCN demands of Registration and Licensing of all qualified teachers within the private sector
- To oversee the schools operations as it relates to ethical practices
